13 Flaggy Rock; Taming the Jungle Week 7 Continued

Because Jenelle's computer has broken and it is the computer that we use to do the blog it has been more than a few weeks since we last posted photos. Now trying to catch up you will excuse us if most of what you see is photos with only a small amount of explanation to describe what has occurred. Week 7 was a massive week and we have broken it into two parts so the post should be easier to see. Here we had a huge order arrive from Bunnings minus the timber they forgot to load. This load  cost us $600 delivery and so that will tell you a little about what we are up against in getting service, deliveries and trades people.....

As a result we were able to build some shelving in our container to help with storage....

Our most important  event for this part of the week is that finally we are dry enough to have a concrete truck drive onto our property. With the slab enlarged we will be able to build our place of refuge "The Studio". All of a sudden we are now concreters.....

The sand is added ready for concrete tomorrow....

We expected a smaller truck.....

Centimetres to spare he gets as close as possible......

After a lot of hard shoveling. Even the concrete truck driver gave us a hand at one stage to screed off the top. He couldn't move on to pour in another place until we roughly had enough concrete where we worked. At one stage we both thought we have bitten off more than we could chew, but all went well in the end....

Having a slow start from the Caravan Park the next day this little fellow came thrashing out of the cane to have a look and was just outside our kitchen window. There has to be some benefits to go with this work....

Another day and Jenelle has joined the orange people....

Saturday 28th April 2012 and we install our rain gauge (not a drop of rain has fallen since).....

Another skill to add to repertoire is steel brush work on the hardwood posts. We are amazed at how beautiful the timber is when cleaned.....

To progress on with walls we have to build the base that the shower will eventually sit on....

Close to our boundary we have noticed a huge tree with lots of fruit. This fruit gradually ripens over a week or so and we arrive one morning to be amazed it is all totally gone. Must be good if the flying foxes strip the whole lot off in one night.....

At the end of week 7 we realise that to get the lino floor covering to look reasonable we won't be able to cut all the corrugated curves and so all the walls come off bar one to lay the floor coverings. Sometimes it is one step forward and two back.......
